im having a little problem keeping humidity in my tank...idk how cuz im in florida... but does anyone know of any ways to keep more humidity in? i put a wet towel on top of the tank and i spray it alot. maybe my hygrometer is off but idk. any help would be appreciated thx. its fro my new red eye croc skink tank

 If your using a screen top tank, cover the top with aluminum foil and tape down the sides. Cut tightly around the lights. Use a substrate that holds moisture. Make the substrate as deep as possible.

i used a whole bag of dirt stuff from the pet store mixed with beaked moss there is a good amount in there. ya next check im gonna get a fogger i wanted to now but low funds  . thx tho

for my frogs i use saran wrap on the top of the screened tops. depending on the setup i either cover the whole thing or only part of it. oh, i also tape it down to make sure its all sealed up

well the problem is if u cover it i also keeps in the heat and with my lizard the heat cant really go to high

Quite a few people have made home foggers out of pipe and air humidifiers. Then they just attach it to a short timer for once an hour or so.

 How are you heating the viv? You can lower the bulb wattage. Everything will fit together nicely as long as every aspect is accounted for. You can't modify one thing and not the other. I kept Chameleons for 15 years. I stopped using screen cages and relying on misting to keep up humidty. Sealed cages with a deep moist substrate is definitely the way to go. Theres no great fluctuations in humidity. When you mist the enclosure, it gets humid, then dries out until you mist again. If you have a mister set on a timer, its always wet in the enclosure. Sealed enclosure with moist substrate allows for a humid environment without it being soaked. The humidity will decrease slowly over time (not hours).

ya i spray it down alot seems like i have to spray it every 15 mins or so and it is pretty wet in there. tomorrow im gonna add some more moss to it use up the rest of the bag. i use a heat pad but most the time i let it stay at room tep cuz my room stays kinda hot. i have a 60 watt bulb and a 8.0 uvb bulb but it seems like the bulb mixed with the heat in my room is to much. its for my new red eye croc skink and i dont want the heat over 86. my local pet stores sell foggers so im gonna get one next check. i keep a wet towel over the top of the tank also. thx for all the help !
