Sadly I just realized I need to get rid of my dragon...to a good/better home.  With my wife 4 months pregnant and all the baby things needing bought, money is pretty scarce.  Also, I like to let her (95% sure female) roam the house but won't be able to let the dragon out of her cage once the baby comes.  My wife is too worried about the dragon contaminating the floor.  Floors are already gross enough without adding a dragon to it.

Here's what Gamera has:
A customcages.com 48x24x24 cage
http://www.customcages.com/index.cfm?do=detail&productid=2

300-500 Dubia roaches
400-600 Turk roaches
UV light with about 3 months left in it

I'm not sure how I want to do this, that's why I put test.  The cage was way too expensive to just give away.  For now I'm willing to part with Gamera and her feeders for free.  If the cage is involved I would like some compensation for it (cage was 300 something).

There's also a chance I'll convince my wife to let Gamera stay.  She's very little upkeep now financially, only needs veggies, as the roaches are reproducing nicely.  It's just I feel bad that I don't get her out much anymore, and that's only going to get worse once we get a baby.

So this is a long post and I'm not even sure what I"m going to do, just wanted to see the response I'll get.  Ideas and offers welcome.

Dang, I'm sorry to hear that! Where are you located? If you find someone to take her, but doesn't want the roaches...I would love some more to get my colony breeding for all my leos and cresties. I can't take in a dragon though Sad

I've had two babies and never got rid of my beardies...and they do run around my house..as long as I give them a daily bath they never mess on my floor....
My first dragon was given to me because the owner was pregnant and worried about salmonella. I have never had a problem and my children are 4 and 1 1/2 years old and they won't keep their hands off the beardies. My little girl 1 1/2 insists on carrying one around all the time and my son gives them their daily bath, they are very gentle and the funny thing is I think both of my beardies love the extra attention.....and my comment about salmonella I wanted to tell you that a fellow beardy lover just told me that they are one of the only lizards that do not carry salmonella. So that was a huge relief because it was always a concern of mine even though I never had any problems. I hope you decide to keep your dragon but if you still decide to get rid of it I would be happy to give it a good home although it would have to be shipped to ca. Please keep us updated...

All reptiles carry salmonella...it's just highly unlikely that it would be transfered from a beardie. The one documented case I was able to find mentioned that it was a baby whose....(stupid) mother washed bottles in the same sink she had just bathed her dragon in. Nmot only had the dragon soaked in there he had also pooped and she didn't sanitize before washing the bottles.
That said I have my 2 year old and we have always had them and had 0 issues. You have more of a vested interest in your beardie and will probably always be the best home. That said family is first and if you don't feel you would be able to give good care....note I didn't say the same care cause that will never happen, then I hope you find someone great for your scalie.
