This is about Xena, my little girl who wouldn't quit laying eggs.  Her last clutch of eggs was July 7th I believe so I don't believe she'll lay anymore (it was about once a month she was laying clutches).

She's showing some signs of brumation (I'll get a fecal done) and I'm feeling a little paranoid about her health.  Can a female go into brumation when she has eggs developing?  Can eggs start to develop once she's in brumation?

Would getting an x-ray done be too much paranoia?

She may have just bulked up for burmation. If she goes down for burmation she will slow down ALL her bodily functions. An xray couldnt hurt if you want to make sure but it may kill the eggs. I am not sure on that one.

hey Alara
typically females will not brumate if they're gravid.  They may slow down some, and have some outward appearances they are trying, but will not fully go under.
Brumation slows bodily functions, metabolism, and all processes related to absorbsion and digestion, so it's highly unlikely she would develop while down.  She could however begin the cycle again once she wakes.

As for the xray, I wouldn't go that route, but if it's how you feel more comfortable, then there's no harm.

I think I'll skip the x-ray, Xena doesn't like the vet and your answers have reassured me.

Thank you.   Grin

I experience that too but instead of getting an x-ray i just tried to feed my dragon with different variety of foods specially hornworms and her weakness, fat dubias and hissers. I waited if thing will get worse or good but lucky my dragon starts eating again and became normal Smiley. I hope this information helps you, good luck with her Smiley
