Alot of people use those cute "small doggie" carrying bags.  They come in cute little designs with netted windows.

Small sterilite bins with lots of air holes, or simply a towel over the  top.

They also make small animal carrying containers which are pretty much open air, so depending on your outside temps, that may not be an option this time of year.

If the weather is cold where you are, the warmest item you can use without going to a huge expense is a simple cardboard box.  A towel in the bottom will help provide warmth and protection over a rice bag while keeping out the cold temps, wind, rain, etc.

We use small disposable ziploc containers w/ airholes and lined w/ newspaper and wrapped w/ a towel. We live in Montana and this worked really well in the cold. I hope everything goes well at the vet.

Its been pretty cold here in Rhode Island,  I was thinking of putting a hand warmer packet under a towel.  Has anyone ever tried this??

Thanks for the suggestions Smiley

yup.  As long as he's not in direct contact with the hand warmer, he'll be fine.
Like most temp heat sources, those things have their "hot spots" as well.  A towel will suffice fine.

I fogot to mention this in my last reply. We filled a sock half full w/ white rice and microwaved it for 1.5 min and laid it next to them. This kept them very warm and snug which makes ours feel very comfy and safe.
