I'm starting some research into Chinese and Australian/Eastern Water Dragons. Does anyone know of any good breeders (local US or not) of these guys?

from what ive seen its extremely difficult to find ones that are captive born nd bred...i personally have never come across a captive one of either of the species...try kingsnake classifieds you might have some luck there

Thank you for that advice. I will do so when I go to actually purchase one - at the moment, I'm only looking for information before making any commitment.

If you're looking for information an Australian Water Dragons, your best bet in the US would be Agama International. That's where I purchased my founding stock when I was breeding them years ago.
The owner (Bert Langerwerf) died last year though, so you obviously won't be able to speak to him. It's a shame though - he was a pioneer in breeding many lizard species, some for the 1st time outside of their native countries. I met him once when I lived in Kansas City, MO & he was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and truly had a passion for lizards. He was always more than willing to share husbandry & breeding information. You may still be able to contact his wife Hester for information - I spoke with her last month at the Dixie Reptile Show in Birmingham, AL.
As far as Chinese Water Dragons go, they were the 1st species that my Wife & I bred back in the early 90's. We bred them for ~ 3 years before moving up to the Australian variety.
My husbandry knowledge of them is over 10 years old though, so I don't know exactly how much help I could be to you.
