There are 3 options for profile avatars...

Personalized Picture:
I have my own pic:
I will upload my own picture:

If you choose the 3rd option (upload), your avatar is saved in the same manner as an attachment. That means it will eventually expire. Usually in 3-6 weeks.

The 2nd option (own pic) is obviously the best if you have a photobucket or other free online photo storage account. Your avatar won't expire unless you delete it from that account yourself.

The 1st option (personalized) is to choose from one of the few default avatars. Those don't expire.

Far from a perfect system, but it's all we have available at this time.

I "think" the error is corrected now. If someone could try to re-upload their avatar and report any problems, it would be appreciated.

I still cant upload my own picture. I go thru the motions and it doesnt work. Sorry to be a pain.
