Right we have just ordered a 60 x 45 x 45 cm terrarium from ebay, what we want to know is what choice of canopy should we go for?

a)  A duel top fluorescent and halogen combination

or)

b)  Two fluorescent, or incandescent bulb units side by side (hope this makes sense!)

Both units are made by the same company and are part of theyre range.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jackie !  Okay here is how linear and heat should be laid out:

--------------
      O

Now if you use a MVB and heat :

      O    O

What you want is to make sure the both lights are over the basking spot to optimized both UVB and heat.

Hope this helps out !

Oh yes it can be VERY frustrating !
Do you know what linear bulb you will be choosing ?  Or which MVB ?

We have ordered a canopy that fits on top of the tank with 1 repti glo 10.0 (18") 15W UVA UVB tube.  Two 35W sunglo halogen spotlamps.

There is also room for another UVA UVB tube should it be required.

Okay, no go on the glo, but you can get a Reptisun10.0 for around $20 @ www.petmountain.com.  Reptisuns are the BEST linear you can get !  You will want to mark on the calendar when you got it installed, so around 5 months from now you can replace it.
MVBs only need replacing annually.
Hope this helps out !  Keep asking questions, we'll save you $$ and get you all set up right the First time !

So we shouldn't bother with the glo then? Okay, we can just keep it for back up, thank you.

We have seen the ones you mention for about £10 (english pounds) so not much difference in price from what you pay in the States.  Thank you for the link I will have a look now!

We just wanna do the right thing that's all  Cheesy

We have seen breeders advertise in our area, babies for as little as £15, seems a bit too in expensive to me? Whats your thoughts on that?

Oh you are in the UK !  In that case, the Arcadia 12 is the one to go with !  You can find that @ reptileuk.com  I believe.

When you go for babies, they should be at least 8 weeks old, and around 7-8" from nose to end of tail.  And you don't need to have the newest hypo , a normal (tanish) or a red or citrus is just as lovable !

Any thing else you want to push past us, just in case ?

It is basically a new morph of color/genes.  For instance a Hypo has pastel coloration and clear nails.
