Im looking to purchase a reptisun UVB floresant light fixture. My beardies viv is 48" long. And Ive been looking on petmountain.com and I cant find one for a reasonable price...does anyone have any suggestions??

i got my fixture from walmart....they dont have to be the special reptile/fish fixtures...as long as it holds the bulb its fine...honestly without the hood it brightens ur enclosure more so it works out

Could I use one without the hood seeing as my viv has a screen on top and i place the lights on the top of the screen?

I went all out and I Bought The Trex Mega Ray Bulb.  Its a little more,  but I have noticed a big difference.  It gives out enough heat and UVB rays.

keep in mind that the t rex active UV might not give u perfect temperatures even tho it does for someone else...every little thing can throw temps way off but you can purchase them on petmountain.com if im not mistaken

My temps are perfectly fine.  Like You said some might be different.  But I love Mine.  And Tatsu (Her Name Loves it)

oh i wasnt sayin your temps are wrong or that you cant achieve it using that bulb but im saying it might not work the same for the other poster

Oh yeah I know..my friend has a temp gun that I am borrowing until I can buy my own. So if i got that bulb I would be checking temps like a nut case lol. I just want a good bulb for my beardie. I think she is prego with infertiles...she has been getting ALOT bigger..but she is still eating normally and I keep checking her stomach for eggs and I cant see any
