Also I almost hate to make this comment since so many things are so far from natural in captive husbandry but...In the wild water isn't readily accesible to drink, most moisture that they recieve is from vegetation. In a lecture I once went to it was pinted out that owners who mist or keep water dishes in the cages are likely to see more agressive behaviors as the beardies instincts are telling them thatit's the rainy season and therfore time to mate. I don't necessarily believe that, but it was interesting to think about none the less.

It's also very difficult to be on top of them 24/7. They don't even have to defecate directly in the water for it to be an issue. think of it this way. Dragon has a bowel movement, walks through it (we've all had that happen) then soaks in the dish...now we have lovely fecal H2O...all in a matter of minutes. And if you are changing dirty water...well that means it got dirty and they could have drunk from it correct?

If you can keep on it and change water without any problems, great. I just know that with five and my work schedule I go for 8 hours without seeing them and couldn't trust being able to avoid that.
