Hello, and welcome to the forum, like pf said its normal to flatten out to absorb heat. Your basking spot is way too low like she said too. As long as your bathing your new beardie regularly it shouldnt be at risk for dehydration. I suggest you and your parents take a look at our caresheet and compare your set-up and care to it.
