What power magnification are those?  I have a disecting scope that goes to 40X.  Probably not enough.

Where do the parasites come from?  The crickets?  If so, are all dragons bound to get parasites eventually?

my microscope has powers of 4x, 40x, and 400x thats pretty much the min requirements to do fecals....parasites mainly come from crickets nd a constantly dirty enclosure most of the time...its very likely that if u feed crickets your dragon will atleast get pinworms

Maybe I've changed the subject of this thread (sorry), but if you can't do fecals yourself, do you just schedule routine fecal tests with the vet, or do you wait until you see obvious signs of parasites?

What then are the signs that a dragon has them?  If you do routine checks with the vet, what time interval would you recommend?

u didnt really change the topic dont worry...but to answer your questions, i honestly do fecals every 6 months unless i feel that my dragon may have parasites (this is prior to me getting the things to do it myself) i also have a fecal done before my dragons brumate as well...signs of parasites include but are not limited to:

loss of appetite
lethargy
weight loss
not wanting to bask
very foul/sour smelling feces

2x per month?  Do you do them yourself or take them to the vet?  That could really add up!

Nah I do them myself, I Dropped out of schooling to become a vet, I had to have my scope for school. it was too much hassle to become a vet, then go "apprentice" at an exotics vet, then become certified in exotics and blah blah. I know the basics, and probably will go back later on in the future. But yeah i do them myself

When you come to a fork in the road, take it!

As long as they look ok I do it myself once a month and have the vet check every 6 months.
