I once raised two egg sibs paralets.  They were brother and sister, hatched them out in a "nest" I made myself, and carried under my shirt all day, and placed them in our hatchling "hot box" at night.
I was able to find them a home togeather ( a 10 year old girl and her mother) and they are sweet, as long lived as an amazon, and .... about the size of a cockatiel.

Yea, dont worry when you have time to research them go for it. I am studying right now for my final 2 exams so I am not on that often until I am in the clear with those.

Oh wow so theres lots of choices that aren't the Mccaw. Thats good. My boyfriend is set if we get a bird the mccaw, but maybe If i show him this thread he will change his mind haha

And yea veggie burger i know what you mean. I used to have a love bird, she was amazing and then she laid eggs and she turned into an EVIL bird. We couldnt touch her, she took a couple pieces of skin out of my neck and fingers though. But when i was talking to the breeders apparently lovebirds are known for that. Who knew? lol.

Macaws and most parrots are generally good pets though only for some people. I have had parakeets up to a scarlet macaw and liked them all. Note stay away from a sun conure they are good but extremely loud and not the talking singing type. Most parrots are like a cat. They like stuff kinda on their time and their choices although you should stay the "Top Bird" and be stern but understanding. Blue and Gold Macaws are the easiest and sweetest of the macaws also the most common. They do need to get attention and be part of the family their cage should be where the most time is spent in the house ie family room, kitchen ect. They need fresh fruits and veggies  alot of love and a great maid because they drop seed and food everywhere. I used to cook my macaw an egg over easy everymorning and mix with fruit and veggies she loved it. And when I got home from a hard day she was always there to tell me hello and I love You. A pet that is alot of work but well worth it. Oh ya andthey will usually pick one person in the house to love and African Grey's will actually sound like the person they love. My Mom has one that sounds just like my dad and he's not even the one who wanted the bird but she loves him best. My mom just feeds her and cleans up after her and she still loves daffy best!!! Ha Gotta love'em
