Hey guys! I've been lurking on this site for weeks and haven't posted anything because I don't have a beardie yet, but I have wanted one for a long time! My fiance and I have been talking about getting one for about a year. I have been reading books about them and buying odds and ends like food dishes and things like that for a while.

We already have two aquatic turtles a red-eared slider (Depp after Johnny D.) and a river cooter (Willis after the coolest action movie star of all time Bruce Willis), that we've had for 2 years April 1st. They are spoiled rotten but aren't really come out and play pets. They both have boy names but the are both sheilas (No I'm not an Aussie I'm a Texan that likes to calls girls sheilas)

My fiance and I get married on July 25th (anyone that wants to give us a beardie for a wedding presents pm me! lol) and she wants to wait until at least then before we add Picard (after the only starship captain that matters) to our family. We also hope to buy a house next month so we should wait until then for sure.

Picard already has a 20L aquarium for when he (or she) is a babe and we plan on getting Depp a larger home (she is currently in a 40 gal) and using it as a hand me down for Picard when he/she gets big enough. But what I really want to do is convert one of those old projector style big screen TV's (I see them sometimes for free on craigslist here in Dallas) into an enclosure with an alien landscape! (taking some ideas from some of you guys and the awesome foam/grout habitats y'all have made.)

Wow, if you read that whole thing you are awesome! I felt like Kevin Nealon with all of those (side remarks)!!! Thanks everyone!

welcome to the forum!

Feel free to ask questions and take a look at our caresheet, it's great thet you've been researching but remember that information in books quickly becomes outdated, I fell into that trap myself but luckily I found this place! Forums like this is the only places you can really gain up to date and un-biased information so it's great you found us!

Exited for you on he new beardie! You're gonna love it! Don't forget to post some baby pics Smiley

Thanks guys for the warm welcome! What do you guys think of the alien planet theme? or maybe like a surface of the moon theme with a crater as the feeding dish?
