Okay, so I'm taking my beardie, Peaches, to the herp vet today. She has diarrhea and I'm pretty sure it's coccidia. Just wondering if anyone knows what I should expect.. What kind of meds will she most likely be put on and how will it affect her? Also, how much the visit should approximately cost? Price of the meds? Will she most likely take a culture?
Thanks =]

when i got my fecal done for galileo it cost about 50$ including the fecal nd the vet visit itself...they gave him albon for the coccidia and thats one of the meds that need to be given with a probiotic such as benebac and acidophiliz (soy based) the medicine is inexpensive at most places probably a couple bucks since ur vet will only give it to u long enough to treat the coccidia now and not in the future

well, the visit was not as expensive as I thought it would be...That made me very happy.  Grin She also did some tests and it wasn't coccidia, however, some type of infection. She did give me albon and said I should see some improvements within a week...
I have to inject the crickets with the meds and then feed them to her...
...I actually felt so bad for the crickets I almost cried Undecided

Poor crickets... Poor you for having to do it! Tongue

usually albon is given if coccidia is an issue...will the albon treat the infection your dragon has? also if you are giving albon its very important to give a probiotic along with it such as benebac or acidophiliz (soy based) to keep their appetite up as much as possible

My dragon had pinworms (if I remember correctly) several months ago and was given Panacur. After the entire treatment, his fecal came back negative. I've noticed that several days to a week afterward, his appetite slowly started decreasing. He used to eat every last Turk and crix, and all his greens. But now he eats several Turks or crix and tries to run away. And he barely touches his greens, I have to hand feed him (and even with that he eats very little).

His husbandry is perfect and hasn't changed. And he's still very active. Would soy based yogurt or acidophiliz help with his appetite even after about 2 months since his last Panacur treatment?

I just don't want any food to go to waste but more importantly want to make sure he has a good diet. Thanks in advance.

I'll try the yogurt first. I'll feed him through a syringe. How much do I give him and how often. Thanks...

How much does he weigh ?  If under 200 grams, give 2 mm/cc of Soy yogurt.
If over 200 but less than 400, 3mm/cc
over 400 less than 600 4mm/cc

He's in between 400 & 600 grams. But how often do I give him the 4cc's and when is a good time to stop?
